NWJFU Girls FootballÌý
The team continue their winning ways in the Western Conference, remaining undefeated through their 4 matches. There have been strong wins against Smithton in Smithton, and against Parklands this week (19.5.119 – 0.0.0) in some challenging weather conditions! The girls have showed resilience and teamwork and will now play host to local rivals Wynyard High School next week, to decide the top of the Western Conference. The winning team will progress through to face Eastern Conference Winner Sheffield High School.Ìý
NSATIS NetballÌý
Round 5 matches saw the 1sts team have a strong win over Launceston Christian School 44-21, whilst the 2nds handed a narrow loss to St Patricks Gold 21-30. Round 6 saw top-of-the-table St Pats 1sts and 2nds team visit MRC. ÌýSt Pats were too strong running out winners in both games, but they were pushed all the way by our MRC girls. Ìý
With the 1sts team finishing 4th on the ladder, and the 2nds finishing 3rd at the conclusion of roster matches, both teams have qualified for the Semi-Finals. These matches are to be hosted at St Patrick’s College next week, as they fight for the right to play for an NSATIS title. Good luck to our teams!Ìý
NSATIS SoccerÌý
Difficult weather conditions have plagued the soccer teams’ matches, and it was a busy fortnight with a catch-up game against Launceston Grammar, home games against Launceston Christian, and St Patrick’s College home matches. The Boys team managed to get their second win of the season on the board over St Patrick’s College Green – 3 – 1, with goals being scored by Harrison J, Cooper P and Tyrese A. The Boys final round match will be against local rivals St Brendan Shaw in Devonport, whilst the Girls team will host Scotch Oakburn College.Ìý
NSATIS vs SATIS Representative MatchesÌý
Congratulations and good luck to the 10 MRC students selected in the NSATIS representative teams in Basketball (six) and Soccer (four). Matches are being played Friday 6 September at St Patricks against the SSATIS teams. ÌýCongratulations also to Mr Brad Simpson (Girls Basketball) and Mr Sam Johnstone (Boys Basketball) who will coach the respective NSATIS teams. Matches start at 11:00am and 1:00pm, and live streams will be available from the SATIS website.Ìý
Sign ups for some Term 4 events have opened, including the Touch Football Gala Day and Schools Triathlon series. Students wishing to sign up for these events should do so in the Harcombe Centre foyer. Additional Term 4 events and opportunities will be posted on MEL for students in the coming weeks.Ìý
